Abstract
The linear electromagnet, for mosaic printers, consists of three armature cores fixed to and spaced along a non-magnetic armature rod. One end of the rod is fastened to the printer needle or head. The armature assembly is enclosed in four coaxial toroidal cores separated axially from one another by three short non-magnetic collars. The toroidal cores and collars form a tube which is enclosed by teh electromagnet excitation coil. A current in the coil moves the armture assembly axially against the action of a helical return spring.
