Abstract

The appts. consists of a DC overload current detector and circuit breaker or cut - out driver. The detector operates without introducing a voltage drop in the monitored line, has a fast response and operates at a set current level. The detector is based on the use of a reed switch (2) placed in close proximity to the monitored line (1). The reed switch may be either normally open or closed and in both cases a coil (3) surrounding the reed envelope maintains the change of switch state as long as the supply is maintained, the coil also controls a transistor (4) which in turn drives the supply cut-out switch or an alarm (5).
