Abstract

A sensor for detecting failure of a fuse 40 in an electrical power grid includes a circuit breaker 46 arranged across the fuse and having a selected breaker impedance and breaker current rating, so that the breaker will not open until the failure of the fuse. The sensor also includes an auxiliary breaker switch 50 which is arranged in a circuit to provide an indication that the fuse and breaker have opened. <IMAGE>
