Abstract

The machine has a pillar (6) which locates a cantilever type tool holder (8). The latter locates a demountable transversely mobile vertical milling head (10) and a spindle (38) for a horizontal tool. The milling unit comprises a housing (18) which can be mounted on a longitudinally mobile workpiece (32) support (12). The top of the housing (18) can rotate about a vertical axis (36), and incorporates a horizontal drive shaft (20) with a chuck (30) locating the workpiece (32). The shaft (20) can, thus, be pivoted about a vertical axis perpendicular to its axis of revolution and until it is parallel to the spindle.
