Abstract

Coil for a zone refining appts. for semiconductor rods, is in two parts consisting of matching flaf coil without electrical contact between them. Each half has entry and exit leads for electrical supply and water cooling arranged opposite each other; so that H.F. 180 degrees out of phase can be applied to the opposite half coils. Each half coil is a single half turn with the leads at the ends of the half turn. The coils are fed from two resonating circuits and H.F. amplifiers opt. via H.F. transformers. Each half turn has a circular configuration which is the specular replica of the other. The half turns consist of tubes carrying cooling water. Each is connected to earth at its central point.
