Abstract

derivs. of formula (I) are new. In (I) R1 is (i) 3-12C alkyl opt. substd. by alkoxy, phenyl or pyridyl, or (ii) a gp. of formula ANR2R3, where A is 1-4C alkylene, R2 and R3 are 1-4C alkyl or aralkyl, or NR2R3 is a 5- to 7-membered ring opt. contg. another heteroatom, e.g. O,S, NH or N-alkyl. Compared with the corresp. dicarboxylate esters (DT (1607827), cpds. (I) have higher coronary dilatory activity, esp. in the vessels supplying the brain. In an example, (I; R1 = Pr) is prepd. from 2-nitrobenzaldehyde, aminocrotonitrile and propyl aminocrotonate.
