Abstract

Le dispositif électro-optique de modulation de lumière est un guide formé par une couche mince de matériau électro-optique sur laquelle sont déposées des bandes conductrices. Les bandes conductrices forment entre elles un angle ouvert vers l'entrée de lumière. La distance entre les bandes à l'entrée permet la transmission d'un ou de plusieurs modes tandis que leur distance à la sortie est telle que le guidage latéral de la lumière n'est plus possible sans champ électrique appliqué entre les bandes. Pour une certaine tension entre les bandes, le guidage latéral devient possible à la sortie du dispositif. Applicable au guidage et à la modulation de la lumière dans des couches minces.
