Abstract

The burner is made from metal and has a multicellular structure. The ribbing of the structure is covered with ceramic vitreous material. The burner is itself cylindrical with an outside metallic solid cylinder containing the multicellular structure (1, 3), in a spiral arrangement. The spiral consists of a single sheet of material wound from the centre. The sheet is made from expanded metal fixed to a plate. The spiral is separated by a number of parallel tubes. The height of the burner elements is between 0.8 and 3.0 cm. The burner is coated with insulating material where it comes into contact with the gas mixture.
