Abstract

The ends of heat exchanger core tubes are sealed by longitudinal compressing of the tube ends into recesses surrounded by annular channels incorporating an elastic seal. The seals bear against tubular flanges which connect the roots of the radial heat transfer fins to the outside of the core tubes. Process avoids uses of brazing or welding and permit a higher degree of relative movement of the heat-exchanger tubes and body without causing leaks.
