Abstract

New 1,2-dithiol derivs. are of formula (I) (where Het is pyridazin-3-yl, or pyrimidin-2-yl, -4-yl or -5-yl, all opt. substd. with halogen, 1-4C alkyl, 1-4C alkoxy, mercapto, 1-4C alkylthio or di(1-4C)alkylamino). (I) possess chemotherapeutic properties and are esp. useful as antibilharziasis agents, and are of low toxicity. In an example, 47.2 g. phosphorus pentasulphide and 36 g. 3-(pyridazin-3-yl)-3-oxo-propionic acid ethyl ester in 360 ml. toluene were heated for 1 hr. at 110 degrees C to give 2.7 g. 5-(pyradixin-3-yl)-1,2-dithio-3-thione, m.pt. 250 degrees C.
