Abstract

A telescopic crane has a mast (9) consisting of sections bolted together. The mast carries a folding boom supported by tie rods. In order to increase the operating height of the crane the boom (11) is folded at its joints and then swung downwards so that it lies against the side of the mast (9). The mast is then lowered through its cylindrical support (8) until it rests on a suitable support plate. The platform (2) is then hoisted upwards on the mast being guided by the cylindrical support. The supporting column (36) on the base (37) is then placed beneath the platform (2) of the mast (9) and fixed to it. The mast is then raised w.r.t. the platform so that the working height of the crane is increased by the height of the column.
