Abstract

The machine electrostatically powder coats articles (1) passing on a conveyor in front of a distributor nozzle (4). This is in a fixed chamber, the excess powder falling onto an inclined fluid bed (11, 12) underneath. This forms part of a base unit (8) connected (36) to an alternate suction and blast source cleaning the perforated sides (10) of the unit. The excess powder (14) is picked up by a venturi (15, 16) and passed into a fluidising chamber (22) for return to the distributor nozzle, excess air exhausting directly into the unit. All equipment is in the base unit, removable on wheels for rapid colour changeover and ease of cleaning.
