Abstract

The system controls the heat input for a building which is only intermittently occupied, to achieve maximum efficiency and fuel saving. Tests are initially carried out inside the building to determine the time to raise the internal temperature a given amount, under the most unfavourable conditions of external temperature and loading. The reference slope provides a time temperature graph, passing through an abscissa given by the time of re-occupation, the ordinate being equal to the internal temperature required at that time. Similar measurements are taken for the time of leaving the building, these being used to set the control instrumentation.
