Abstract

The drainage valve for dishwasher machines comprises a housing with an inlet channel (28) and an outlet channel (38) with the valve seat mounted in alignment with the flow direction to define a substantially continuous extended flow chamber (34). The defined valve chamber (36) is connected to the flow chamber (34) and stands at right angles to it in the flow direction while extending parallel to the latter. A head valve (40) is swivel mounted in the valve chamber and can be moved from a closed position, extending into the flow chamber where the valve is in sealing engagement with the valve seat to prevent passage of the flow medium, into an open position which lies inside the valve chamber whereupon the flow chamber allows unrestricted flow of the flow medium and any waste items such as fish bones etc.
