Abstract

Procédé et appareil de formation d'un joint à recouvrement du blindage de l'âme d'un câbble comportant une gaine extérieure en matière plastique. Le procédé consiste à former autour de l'âme constituée de conducteurs 22 un blindage métallique en une ou deux couches 23, 24 à partir de bandes plates de métal, d'abord en forme de U en section transversale, et ensuite à faire passer cet ensemble dans une filière dans laquelle les bords d'au moins l'un des blindages 23, 24 sont amenés à recouvrement avec simultanément cambrage du bord 31 de la partie à recouvrement du blindage 24, afin que ce bord ne pénètre pas dans la gaine extérieure en matiere plastique 26 formée par extrusion, en évitant ainsi la possibilité de coupure de cette gaine par le bord 31. Application à la fabrication de câbles téléphoniques.
