Abstract
An electronic speedometer comprises an apertured stroboscopic disc (12) driven by mechanised linkage to the wheel drive output of the engine. Lamp (18) and detector (19) positioned on either side of the disc provide pulsed output signals representing vehicle velocity. These signals are applied to a processing circuit. The circuit comprises a time base and pulse counting element which convert the pulsed output of the stroboscope into a control signal. A digital display (A) produces a reading of vehicle velocity in response to application of the control signal.
