Abstract

The collapsible barrier unit for a car park comprises a vertical post (15) with base plate (2), and two cantilever arms (24, 24) extending at 45 deg. onto the head (22) of the post (15). The hinge (12) is offset horizontally from the centre of gravity of the post. The post may be of rectangular hollow section with a shock absorbant pad (23) fixed to the head. The hinge (12) may be formed by bolts (13, 14) through parallel plates (18, 19) which cantilever from the opposite post faces (15, 17). A pin through a central cantilever plate (28) may effect hinge-locking.
