Abstract

The circuit provides a supply to a monophase load, such as an incandescent or a discharge lamp, from a three phase network where normally such a supply would be taken across one phase and neutral. The circuit allows the load supply to be varied and provides protection against overvoltage. Each monophase load (1, 1') is connected to one of the three phases (P1, P2, P3) and to a fourth or return conductor (C). This is in turn connected to the neutral line (N) by a control circuit (2) itself connected to one of the remaining phases. The control or regulator circuit consists of a three-leg magnetic circuit the return and neutral conductors entering the circuit at each end of a winding over one leg which alone has an air-gap.
