Abstract

The safety brake for road vehicles has a flexible loop (1) of steel with a synthetic or natural material covering. One end (2) is fixed on the chassis of the vehicle on a cross member (4) by bolts and a fork (5). Shock absorbers, such as springs (6) can be placed between the traverse (4) and the fixings. Normally the end (7) of the loop is held by a mobile mechanism (5) on the chassis but can fall to the road (9), so blocking the wheel (10) and stopping the vehicle. The loop is released by a fixing (8) and the end going under the wheel is reinforced.
