Abstract

The press is used for compacting cotton waste and includes a hydraulic ram (4, 5) the waste being fed into the breech (1, 2) of the compaction chamber by a screw flight (3). The ram has a reciprocating motion and the chamber tapers towards its exit (8). On the end of this is an extrusion tube (9), having the same dia. and provided with a cutoff knife (13) at the outlet. Both the compaction chamber and the extrusion tube are heated by means of electrical resistances (10, 14) wrapped around at intervals. These resistances are in the form of rings and provide a temp. of 200 deg. C for controlled drying.
