Abstract

The electronic stop may be used to control the advance of the tool or the workpiece on tool-sharpening machines, and controls the motion of a metallic surface (B) relative to a reference plane (A). The reference plane (A) is defined by the tips of three non-aligned and electric-charged metal points (P1, P2, P3). A control unit (2) monitors the simultaneous conductivity of the three points which occurs when all three are contacted by the moving metal surface (B). The system eliminates the play associated with mechanical stops, and effects limitations of relative motion when the said simultaneous conductivity occurs. The stop may also be used to control the angular position of cutting tools on sharpening machines.
