Abstract
PURPOSE:To improve efficiency of wire chipping process by applying to the side of wire tool vibration whose amplitude direction is controlled in tangential direction at all points of cutting shape. CONSTITUTION:To a wire tool 1 which is being chipped, vibration is applied by means of a vibtator 15 in the direction perpendicular to the tool's axial line. On the other hand, control pulse signal corresponding to chipping shape is emitted from an NC device 14 to a rotary control pulse motor 163 in order to operate a rotary control mechanism 16 on the basis of this signal and to control the vibrator 15 so that it is always directed in the tangential direction of chipping shape on X - Y 2 axial plane at all the chipping points. By controlling in this manner, direction of vibration of the wire tool 1 is always made to coincide with the tangential direction at all the points of chipping shape. And by periodically changing the pressing force applied in the chipping direction between the wire tool 1 moving back and forth in the axial direction while pressing against the surface being chipped and the surface to be chipped, the work is to be chipped into the prescribed shape.
