Abstract

The glass ampoule has both ends drawn out to a point and sealed. One or both of these can be broken off cleanly by placing a cap over the end and applying side pressure. This cap is moulded from a hard plastic, its internal cavity (2) shaped to fit closely over the end of the ampoule. The outer surface is circular and tapered from top to bottom. This surface has a sharp edge (3) at its junction with the internal cavity, forming a cutting zone to concentrate pressure on the ampoule. Striations or flats provide an improved grip on the outer surface.
