Abstract

L'appareil selon l'invention se distingue par un four 1 comportant un fond 2 avec des ajutages pour former des cônes de verre en fusion qui sont ensuite étirés par bobinage pour obtenir les fibres de verre, le diamètre des orifices des ajutages étant tel que le débit de verre en fusion soit supérieur à 0,5 g/mn par ajutage, la distance entre les ajutages étant suffisante pour empêcher la remontée du verre entre les ajutages, et de l'air provenant d'un distributeur 13 étant soufflé au moins pendant la période de démarrage dans une direction parallèle à celle des ailettes de refroidissement 10 situées entre les rangées d'ajutages. Procedé et appareil convenant en particulier pour produire des fibres de verre d'un diamètre de l'ordre de 10 mu .
