Cette prothèse comporte une cupule cotyloïdienne 4 métallique mince, de forme sensiblement sphérique, dont la surface extérieure a une dimension sensiblement égale à celle du néocotyle 2 et qui est munie d'une bride périphérique 6 d'appui sur l'os autour du cotyle et d'interdiction du basculement de la cupule; une cupule fémorale 16 également métallique et mince, prolongée par une jupe 18 et sensiblement en forme de doigt de gant; et une cupule intermédiaire 10 en matériau plastique, relativement épaisse, ayant une surface extérieure sphérique, susceptible de pivoter dans la cupule cotyloïdienne, et une surface interne comportant une partie centrale sphérique prolongée par une portion cylindrique qui s'emboîte sur la cupule fémorale de façon à ne permettre à cette dernière qu'un déplacement en rotation autour de l'axe de symétrie des cupules.
