Abstract

Method is for continuously mfg. a coaxial HF cable with an inner conductor at least partially concentrically surrounded by an outer conductor, and foam plastic insulation between the conductors. The plastics, which contains expanding and crosslinking agents, is applied by an extruder to the heated inner conductor, and is heated between the inlet and outlet openings of the extruder so that the temp. just upstream of the outlet opening is above the reaction temps. of expanding and crosslinking agents. The plastic pref. consists of 100 parts soft polyethylene 0.8 parts peroxide and 2 parts expanding agent, or 50 parts soft polyethylene, 50 parts hard polyethylene, 0.8 parts peroxide and 2 parts expanding agent.
