Abstract

PURPOSE: To make density of foam formation uniform by piling polyolefin film on a thermosetting plastic elastomer sheet composed of asphalt and a foaming agent and subjecting the elastomer to radiation to crosslink it and then heating it to develop foams therein.
CONSTITUTION: Polyolefin film is piled on an elastomer sheet (copolymer of ethylene/propylene, etc.) composed of 60W200PHR asphalt that is water repellent and adhesive for imparting sealing characteristic and 3W20PHR of a foaming agent, and ionizing radiation of 1W5Mrad is shot to crosslink and harden said elastomer, and it is further heated to provide foams. Thus a foamed sheet with uniform foams and without deformation is obtained, and the product is a rubber like foamed body suitable for sealing to be used for waterproofing and soundproofing for household electrical appliances, buildings, and vehicles, etc.
