An electrical conductor has an insulating coating comprising the non-thermoplastic product (I) obtd. by cross-linking a chlorinated polyethylene thermoplastic elastomer compsn. by electron irradiation. Also claimed is a cable comprising conductors insulated by an electron-crosslinked thermoplastic elastomer deriv. (possibly (I)) within a sheath of (I). (I) have improved flame-resistance and dimensional stability at elevated temp.
