Abstract
The device consists of a clamp (101) with two arms (102, 103) with a hinge pin (104). Each arm (102, 103) has a transverse V shaped groove anda rectangular recess to receive a metal half chip (109) supported on a rubber cushion. The clips are staggered with respect to each other and are fitted with electric resistance strain gauges. When the clamp is fitted to the fuel supply pipe the pressure pulse expands the pipe which in turn deforms the clips (109). This deformation is measured by the strain gauges and indicates that fuel has been injected.
