Abstract

An approximately straight bar with linear elastic deformation characteristics when a load is applied, is supported at the ends. The bar is free to move in an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis. Groups of strain gauges are mounted on the bar between the load point in the centre and the supports. These detect deformation in the bar due to loading. The gauges are arranged in a bridge network to generate a signal representing the applied load amplitude.
