Abstract

A spinning rotor for an open end spinning device is formed from an assembly including an outer support in which are located a circular array of segments. The segments form a cup having an inner surface of wear resistant material, whilst the outer support is of a strong material which can withstand stresses generated by spinning. By forming the cup in segments, stresses in it are reduced. The rotor is highly resistant to wear and mechanical damage.
