Abstract

Web coating apparatus such as for impregnating cardboard for making corrugated cardboard sheet has a container (1) with a partition across, with a curved upper surface forming a channel (2) curved towards the applicator drum (4) above, with a set of partitions (3) across it. These, together with a vertical baffle (12) prevent turbulence of the coating substance inside the container which can be heated. They then maintain an even temperature. Horizontal plates (5, 20) against the drum, control the thickness of material on its surface. Two rollers (6) above for guiding the web towards the drum can be adjusted to vary the angle at which the web is applied. Two take off rollers (8, 9) to tension the web can also be swung upwards to vary the delivery angle. A scraper blade (17) follows the second (9) of these two rollers.
