Abstract

The support comprises a base of flexible material, strong and with good heat conductivity through its thickness but poor conductivity in other directions, e.g. of polyester. It is placed on the surface to be subjected to thermography e.g. the skin of humans or animals, the surface having been covered with a coating of opaque material, of good heat conductivity solely through its thickness and absorbing ultra-violet rays. There are ont or more layers of micro-encapsulated liq. crystals sensitive to temp. and calibrated as a function of the thermography temps. to be investigated. The crystal layer has a thickness kept strictly to a constant value of 25-250 mu, and is fixed to a sheet of transparent protective material maintaining the characteristics of the light passing through it. The polyester material is pre-treated to allow the crystal layers to be secures to the transparent support.
