Abstract

The magnetic tape recording unit is used for recording irregular physical, mechanical, chemical, or electrical phenomena. The tape band passes between supply and take-up reels via a surveillance loop, with two read- write-erase blocks, one positioned at the beginning of the loop and the other at the end of the loop and the two blocks simultaneously record the same information on the tape. An auxiliary speed regulating tape loop is positioned in front of each block, the length of which is dependant on the tape tension, with respective capstan tape drives adjacent each block. Control means switch the unit from its surveillance to its recording mode, with a programmer associated with the control means.
