Abstract

A mirror installation to concentrate the sun's rays onto a point on a boiler to produce steam for a turbine generating electricity, comprises in combination sets of mirrors, each with >=1 mirror and means of adjusting the position of the mirror relative to the sun, in order to focus the sun's rays onto the boilder. The adjustment mechanism moves together the sets of mirrors along their respective paths of movement which are in the form of arcs of concentric circles of which the common centre is found at the focal point on the boiler. The mechanism also controls the bearing wich is common to all the sets of mirrors. Arrangement allows a smaller surface area of mirrors compared to other installations, without any lessening of the energy received. The orientation of the mirrors is effected simply and economically.
