Abstract

Parison support and blowing core rod assembly for plastic blow mould, includes an inflatable balloon carried on a hollow core rod. Axial fluid supply and return passages formed in and around concentric inner tube along with two sets of orifices in the rod, enable fluid pressure to be introduced for blowing by expansion of the balloon and also fluid to be circulated for cooling and temp. control purposes. Used for making necked containers, e.g., of the kind having rigid die-formed neck and flexible or pliant body. Orientation temp. control in the mould is possible. Higher orientation blowing pressure is allowable without risk of damage to body wall. Vigorous coolant circulation is similarly allowable and reduces cooling time in the mould.
