Abstract

The rotor (10) is supported on the vibration damper (11) and held central by the upper vibration damper (12). The upper damper consists of a magnet (13) attached to the rotor (10) and a second magnet (14) elastically attached by the bearing supports (15) to the machine frame. The lower end of the rotor is elastically connected by the thin rod (17) to the hemi-spherical bearing (18) which is, in turn, attached by a flexible membrane (21) to the mass (23). The bearing (18) and mass (23) are enclosed in the housing (22) which is filled with a damping fluid. The upper vibration damper (12) absorbs the low frequency vibrations or rigid body modes. The lower damper (11) absorbs two bands of high frequency or flexural vibrations and so permits a wide range of operating speed.
