Abstract

A vibration damper is designed for attachment to the top face of a ski (5). It includes a vertical shaft (2) that is fixed to a rigid mounting plate (3). The shaft (2) carries an adjustable damper weight (1) whose distance of centre of gravity to the ski surface is variable. When a torque tends to twist or vibrate the ski about its longitudinal axis, the inertia of the damper weight (1) tends to oppose this motion. A rigid centre web (7) on the mounting plate (3), together with a highly flexible layer (4) between the mounting plate and the ski, allow the damper a controlled lateral hinging movement.
