Abstract
Socks are knitted on a circular knitting machine having two needle cylinders, and yarn for producing the courses is fed by yarn guides to the knitting needles. Between the yarn forming the last courses of one sock and the yarn forming the first course of the next sock, a connecting yarn is fed into the knitting needles by one of the yarn guides so that two consecutive socks are connected together. Subsequently the socks can be sepd. by pulling apart so that the connecting yarn is broken. A continuous line of socks can be produced from the knitting machine. Subsequently the socks can be sepd. automatically by a device which applies a longitudinal tension.
