Abstract

A control system for the weft inserters in a straight shuttleless loom with a lance at both sides, has a transmission by belts, chains, or cables, actuated by the sley. This operates a connecting rod via a crank pin, the reciprocating movement of which displaces the lance inserting the weft. The layout of the crank pin is such that lost motion gives a progressive starting up of the lance allowing the reed to retract from the edge of the fabric so as to allow the passage of the lance. Between the end of the connecting rod and the lance a telescopic arrangement may be fitted to double the stroke of the lance for wider fabrics. Replaces the complicated, difficult to maintain and adjust conventional mechanisms by a simple layout actuated by the sley and giving high productivity with practically zero maintenance time.
