Abstract

The manually operated elevator-lid (1) for a commercial dishwashing machine slides in grooves on the machine sub-frame (10), and is counterbalanced by a sprung lever system. The arrangement offsets the weight of the lid and extends the distance between the elevated lid and the vessel, with two handles (11) used to move the lid. The leverage system may comprise a pivoting lever-arm (5) and a link-rod (7) and is duplicated on each flank of the machine. The lever arm (5) is pinned (4) to the front leg of the machine sub-frame (3), and the link-rod (7) is pinned (6) between the free end of the lever arm and the base (8) of the rear wall (9) of the lid. The lever-arm fulcrum (4) may locate at two thirds of the height between the floor and the base of the washer vessel (2), and the spring (12) occupies a diagonal position between a lever-arm bracket (15) and the rear (13) of the vessel (2) base. The link rod (7) and the bracket (15) project in opposite directions and are parallel when the lid (1) is closed.
