Abstract

The wheeled chassis for an ambulance stretcher has front and rear wheeled legs pivoted underneath it. Each leg abuts a fixed stop positioned in front of an above its pivot axis to establish the correct, erect position of the leg. The pivoting movement of the leg is controlled by a four-bar linkage comprising the leg itself (2), two cross pieces (28, 17) and a control bar (16.) The rear of the upper link is shaped as a hook (23) which engages the stop (15) to lock the leg in place. When the hook is released the leg pivots upwards to a folded position under the chassis.
