Abstract

In order in particular to achieve a low coupling loss and to allow repeated coupling in and out of the communications signals, a broadband transformer (1) is used in an insulator housing (12). The high-voltage winding (2) of this transformer is connected to a double wire (3) of a phase cable (4). The mid-point of the winding which is connected to earth is capacitively connected via a capacitor (5) to the line armouring (6) of the phase cable (4) which is connected to high potential. The low-voltage winding (7) is connected to a double wire (3) of a communications cable (4). The design cost of this device is low and it is also relatively inexpensive to manufacture.
