Abstract

Self adjusting preload bearing sign improves radial rigidity and reduces heat generation. This is achieved by an annular shoulder (7) on the spring loaded bush (5) contacting the bearings (4) and having axial freedom of movement on the shaft (2). In operation, under centrifugal force, inertia units (6) move outwards and act against spring (3), reducing its force on the bearing and also the preload.
