Abstract

Prefabricated plastic (e.g. expanded polystyrene) thermally-insulating boards, which are hung on the joists under a reinforced concrete floor are provided. To avoid having to stock a variety of thicknesses, the boards are made in two parts and only the upper part (of simple rectangular section) is of variable thickness. The two parts are pref. made of the same material. The lower has the form of a lidless box, whose interior is divided by longitudinal, and possibly also transverse partitions, so that closed air cells are formed when the upper part is in place. The lower part pref. has a horizontal flange at one side; this serves to conceal the joist the plastic board is hung on.
