Abstract

The shelving system includes shelf panels and frame bars (3) of standard lengths, and spherical node couplers (1). The nodes (1) have six orthogonally disposed sockets (1A) which receive the bar ends (3A) as spigots. The spigots and sockets are tapered to obtain a wedge fit. The bars (3) may be of round hollow section and the socket (1A), is of circular section to suit. The node spheres may have hollow cores which communicate with the sockets enabling the framework, suitably drilled, to serve as a lighting cable duct. The shelves (12) may be supported on bridges of elongated plate which span between the converging bars (3) at a node. The bridges align at 45 deg. to the bars, support shelf corners, and hook over the bars with inverted semi-circular end formations.
