Abstract

The base of the stack consists of two ingots spaced at a distance apart allowing access to the forks of a fork-lift truck or other lifting machines. Elements of a profile of the ingots are placed at the four bottom corners of the stack to prevent the displacement of the base ingots. The entire stack is then wrapped round with bands to make an integral load. The use of the corner elements eliminates the need for a pallet and the elements can be made in metal, plastic or other materials.
