Abstract

The ring-type universal joint has two forks, each with two trunnions in bearings in the ring, allowing variable degrees of torsional rigidity and limited angular misalignment between shafts. Elastic components are included to filter out radial or axial vibration. These components allow radial and/or axial movement limited by shoulders forming positive mechanical stops, and enclose the trunnions fixed to the forks and/or the bearing outer races. In all cases, they have a ring coaxial to the bearing outer race, and with a radial stop towards the bearing centre line, and axial stop. The ring thus, forms a preadjusted device limiting axial and radial movement.
