In the Hooke's type universal joint of the parent Specification the shoulders 25, which retain the trunnion bearing cups 7 in the joint yokes 3 are formed as two or more circumferentially spaced arcuate portions by a staking operation. The underlying washer 21 may be replaced by a ring 23, or be eliminated, and the bearing cups 15 are an interference fit in the yoke bores and engage U-shaped resilient rings 17 seated on shoulders on the spider trunnions 11.
