Abstract

A device for printing characters formed by points on paper reacting to heat, comprises an insulating substrate, across the surface of which, the paper can be displaced. The printer includes a network of conductors feeding resistant zones of the size of points, which form the thermal heads. These are deposited on the active face of the substrate by conventional methods for the mfr. of hybrid circuits. In contrast to existing thermal printers, messages of several lines can be printed at a speed >=20 characters per second by means of a fixed head of simple design. The movements of the paper are restricted to one single continuous passage.
